PARENTS
The names of Remus's parents are not known, but what we do know is that when Remus was a young child, his father somehow offended vicious werewolf Fenrir Greyback, who in turn bit Remus in retaliation. His parents feared that Hogwarts would not accept Remus with his lycanthropy but Albus Dumbledore made special arrangements for Remus to attend, given protective measures were taken. Whether Remus's parents have passed or not is unknown.

FRIENDS

SIRIUS BLACK, JAMES POTTER, PETER PETTIGREW
The friendship between Sirius, James, Peter and Remus is implied to have begun in their first or second year at Hogwarts. The four grew closer and called themselves the Marauders. By their fifth year, James, Sirius and Peter had become unregistered Animagis to keep Remus company when he was in werewolf form. All four were members of Gryffindor and they took pride in harassing Slytherin's Severus Snape. After school, they joined the original Order of the Phoenix during the first war together, but by October 31, 1981, James and his wife, Lily, had been killed, leading to Sirius Black's arrest and Peter's "death". 13 years later, it was revealed that Peter was Lily and James's betrayer, not Sirius, and Sirius escaped Azkaban for revenge. Peter managed to return to Voldemort's side unscathed and helped to bring back the Dark Lord to human form. Sirius perished behind the veil in 1995. Peter and Remus remain the only two surviving Marauders (as of HBP).

ALBUS DUMBLEDORE
Remus grew closer to Dumbledore while a student at Hogwarts. While many others may have been repulsed at Remus's affliction, or turned him away, Dumbledore allowed Remus to stay in school, and created the Whomping Willow as a way for Remus to get away from Hogwarts during the full moon to transform in private within the Shrieking Shack. As a grown man, it was difficult for Remus to find steady work, and Dumbledore graciously allowed Remus to take the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor in 1993, showing again the trust he had in Remus. When Severus Snape revealed Remus was a werewolf, Remus resigned his position to Dumbledore as not to create problems for the school. At the end of Book 6, Remus showed his shock and grief when learning Dumbledore was gone.

THE WEASLEYS
It's shown throughout OOTP and HBP that Remus gets along fairly well with Arthur, Molly and their children. He's very gracious of their hospitality when offered, and even spent Christmas Day with them in 1995. Molly and Arthur were also aware of his issues regarding his lycanthropy and relationship with Nymphadora Tonks, and made their support of the relationship clear in HBP. It's not known whether or not Molly and Arthur's encouragement convinced Remus to be with Tonks, but during Dumbledore's funeral, Remus was seen holding hands with Tonks.
